HARD TICKET TO HAWAII (1987) ***

  • May. 6th, 2009 at 9:49 PM

Hard Ticket to Hawaii is perhaps the greatest Andy Sidaris movie ever made.  It features everything that a great Andy Sidaris movie should have; namely topless gut-toting Playboy Playmates, softcore sex scenes, Kung Fu, remote control helicopters, scuzzy drug dealers, studly guys who can’t shoot straight, beautiful locations, Jacuzzis, random guys driving motorcycles and ATV’s, people sipping champagne on a yacht, comic relief henchmen, James Bond references, shit blowing up, etc.   As an added bonus, there is also a subplot involving a killer mutant cancer-ridden snake.

Folks, how many movies can you name off the top of your head that feature killer mutant cancer-ridden snakes?

I first caught this flick when I was ten years old on Skinamax at about two in the morning and have never forgotten it.  Hard Ticket to Hawaii served as my introduction to the world of Andy Sidaris and that’s also another reason why it has a special place in my heart.  Nobody combines tits and guns like Andy Sidaris and in Hard Ticket to Hawaii, he really outdoes himself.  We get a lot of tits and a lot of guns.

The main problem with Andy’s films is that they are all interchangeable and it’s hard to tell one from another.  Also, the stuff that doesn’t revolve around tits and guns isn’t nearly as much fun.  I’ve seen every single one of Andy’s flicks from the 80’s and 90’s and despite their varying quality they all get *** from me just for the sheer number of naked Playmates and explosions.

The thing about Hard Ticket to Hawaii that sets it apart from the rest of Sidaris’ work is the fucking awesome killer mutant cancer-ridden snake.  Andy doesn’t get a lot of credit as a “director” director but the scene where the snake pops out of the toilet ranks right up there with the shower scene in Psycho.  Other than that there’s a pretty cool scene involving a razor-lined Frisbee as well as the bat shit insane part where a blow-up doll gets bazooka’ed to death!

Andy also knows how to write some fucking brilliant dialogue too.  Not many of the lines make a whole lot of sense (“One man’s dream is another man’s lunch!”) but I got to tell you, Sidaris is a gifted writer.  Who else could write the line, “If brains were bird shit, you’d have a clean cage!” and get away with it?

Picasso Trigger was the next in the series.

HARD HUNTED (1992) ***

Dona Speir and Roberta Vasquez are after Kane (Roger's son R.J. Moore) who has a jade buddah with a hidden nuclear device. Escaping in an exploding airplane, Speir hits her head and has amnesia. Gregory's son, Tony Peck orders a team to rescue her. When Speir has sex with a double agent, she suddenly remembers who she is and tells him: "I faked that orgasm!" and runs him through with a machete! Al Leong is Kane's assistant Raven who flies a gyrocopter with sidewinder missles (Speir and Vasquez promptly blow it up though). With plenty of nudity (in hot tubs and on beaches), guns, and explosions (all of director Andy Sidaris trademarks). Any movie featuring movie star relatives and Playboy Playmates is okay by me. Co-starring Sidaris regulars Rodrigo Obregon, Cynthia Brimhall and Ava Cadell. Fit to Kill is next in the series.

ENEMY GOLD (1993) ***

Andy Sidaris produced this, the ninth in the series of great T & A action/adventure movies. Bruce Penhall, Suzi Simpson and Mark Barrier are on suspension for busting Bolivian drug lord Santiago (Rodrigo Obregon) without a warrant (he was smuggling coke in watermelons!). While on suspension, they search for Confederate gold (there's a Civil War flashback), but are followed by Santiago and expert assassin Jewel Panther (Julie Strain) who want revenge. As in any Sidaris movie, it features lots of nudity, action and great dialogue. When Santiago showers with two exotic dancers, one girl says, "What's up?” to which he replies: "I am!” And in another scene when a guy asks Strain to sit on his face, she responds: "Why is your nose bigger than your dick?” Simpson, who uses an exploding crossbow), Collins (who was a Playboy Playmate in 1992) and Strain (Penthouse's Pet of the Year in 1993) all have major nude scenes (Strain has one with a sword). Directed by Andy's son Drew. Thank God for Andy Sidaris.

DO OR DIE (1991) ***

The evil crime lord Kane (Pat Morita!!!) captures two sexy government agents (Dona Speir and Roberta Vasquez) and plays The Most Dangerous Game with them. There's nudity in hot tubs, waterfalls, swimming pools and during sex scenes (Including one with Morita. NOOOO!) and cheesy gadgets like missile firing toy helicopters and a rocket launching cane(!). All this and Erik Estrada too! Yes, it could only be an Andy Sidaris film. With Sidaris regulars Cynthia Brimhall (who sings), Bruce Penhall and Eva ("I'm gonna blow their tits off!") Cadell. Estrada was also in Guns for Sidaris the year before. Hard Hunted was next in the series.

DAY OF THE WARRIOR (1996) ***

  • Jul. 17th, 2007 at 12:11 PM
In the 11th of Andy Sidaris' tits and guns extravaganzas WCW wrestler Marcus "Buff" Bagwell joins the mix as "The Warrior", a musclebound smuggler who is hunting down the sexy female agents of L.E.T.H.A.L. (The Legion to Ensure Total Harmony and Law) who have infiltrated his ranks. The always hot Julie Strain stars as the head of L.E.T.H.A.L. who sends out the magnificently breasted "Tiger" (Shae Marks) to save them. All the chicks have funny code names like "Cobra" (Julie K. Smith) and "Scorpion" (Tammy Parks). Bagwell dresses up in funny Indian war paint and wrestles insubordinates in the ring. When he pile drives a guy and breaks his neck he yells, "Delicious! Bring more!" Like all of Sidaris' work there's tons of nudity. For the ladies, there's Rodrigo Obregon and Christian Leteleir. Strain gets the best line when someone asks her what she did when she worked at Disneyland, she responds, "I was one of the rides!" Most of the cast returned for the next (and to date final) installment, Return to Savage Beach.
