The opening credits of this movie assure us that this is a true story. It takes place in 1956 where Frank (F Troop) DeKova is the Italian gangster who tries to move in on the black community’s numbers rackets run by “Pasha” (Paul Harris). It’s pretty much your average run of the mill gangster flick with the only real novelties being it’s black cast and period setting. The film’s coolest character is Pasha’s bodyguard, a cross dresser named “Serene” (Don Edmondson) who uses a ring equipped with a razor blade to slash people’s throats. In the film’s coolest scene, she/he beats a man to death with a high heel shoe (18 years before Single White Female). There’s some blood and nudity but not enough to keep you interested during the slower stretches.
