Joe (Gremlins) Dante directs this left wing satirical mix of Deathdream and Night of the Living Dead. When a political analyst (Jon Tenney) publicly wishes the dead soldiers of the War in Iraq back to life, he gets more than he bargained for. The soldiers come back en masse to vote the President (never named, but obviously Bush) out of office. When there’s a Florida-esque voting snafu that discounts the undead soldier’s votes, they call in reinforcements. Big Time. Dante balances the moody atmosphere with sly political jabs and screenwriter Sam (Batman) Hamm’s script evokes the best E.C. Comics feel since Romero’s Creepshow. No matter how you may feel about the show’s politics, you have to admit it’s one of the better episodes in the Masters of Horror series. Co-starring Dante regular Robert Picardo.
