MONKEY SHINES (1988) **

George (Night of the Living Dead) Romero directed this offbeat psychological horror film about a quadriplegic (Jason Beghe) who uses an ultra smart monkey to help him with everyday household chores. Since the monkey came from a mysterious laboratory, it develops a telepathic link with Beghe and starts killing off his enemies. It’s different, but it’s also way too long and isn’t scary in the least. It’s also one of Romero’s weakest efforts. Co-starring John Pankow, Stanley Tucci, Janine Turner and Chris Romero.

AKA: Monkey Shines: An Experiment in Fear.
