OUR MAN FLINT (1966) ** ½

In the late sixties, there were a countless number of Bond imitators. This one is one of the best, but it’s still not up to the Bond franchise’s high standards. James Coburn’s performance is the main reason to watch it. He plays Derek Flint, a secret agent hired by Z.O.W.I.E. to stop some scientists who are using a weather machine to take over the world. Flint is only armed with a lighter that has 82 different uses. “83 if you count lighting a cigar”. Coburn is great but the film is filled with way too many spy clichés. A sequel, In Like Flint followed, as well as a Coburn-less TV series.
