When David Morse is kidnapped in a third world country, Russell Crowe is hire to negotiate a deal to get him back. Meg Ryan is Morse's wife who kinda/sorta falls for Crowe. While negotiating with the kidnappers, Crowe and Ryan basically have to sit around and wait for something to happen, unfortunately so does the audience. But once Crowe gets back together with his war buddy David Caruso (back from the dead) and they go to get Morse, the film kicks in and comes to life. Caruso is pretty great and his performance is the best part of the movie. He and Crowe have great chemistry together, but strangely Crowe and Ryan don't (which is weird because their offscreen chemistry caused her to seperate from hubby Dennis Quaid). Morse gets the best line when he tells a kidnapper, "I'll tear your world apart in five minutes without breaking a sweat!" Directed by Taylor (Against All Odds) Hackford.
