Director Sergio Martino delivers a solid, entertaining giallo packed with suspense, tits and gore. A killer in a ski mask terrorizes some American college students studying in Rome. The killer uses a red scarf to strangle his victims and then dismembers them with a hacksaw after groping them. Suzy (The Bird with the Crystal Plumage) Kendall is the only girl left standing, and in the film’s taut last half hour gets locked in the house with the killer while he hacks up his victims. While most of the kills are juicy, the more disturbing ones happen off screen, showing only the hacksaw moving back and forth as you hear the shrill sounds of the blade against flesh and bone. Martino also dishes out plenty of sex, nude sunbathing and lesbian scenes to keep everybody happy. The prolific Martino also did 2019: The Fall of New York.
