Forget that hit TV show Lost and check out this flick instead. It’s got more action, suspense, and drama than a season’s worth of shows of that critically acclaimed ratings grabber. An offscreen plane crash has the survivors (including a Nam vet, a single mother, a rock band, and a British agent) marooned on a tropical island. They find an army of international terrorists ready to invade America. Their plan is to spread AIDS and poison the U.S.’s drinking supply. One AIDS infected terrorist even rapes one of the survivors. The survivors band together and fight the terrorists. The non-stop action, gore and nudity make this one of Troma’s best. It’s definitely their most serious and political. The gore highlight is the Siamese twin terrorist leader being cut in half. The non-star cast is good and the film rarely lapses into Troma’s brand of black humor, making it worthwhile even for the most casual action fan. Troma owners Michael Herz and Lloyd Kauffman directed.
