A team of multinational astronauts go to the Moon and encounter meteors, quicksand and lava. In the end they have to stop a race of unseen aliens who want to freeze Earth. There are some admirable attempts at social commentary (the crew members include a black doctor and a Jewish scientist), but the low budget and inept production values sink it. I’ve seen microphone booms in shots before, but this is the first movie I’ve seen where you can see the lighting fixtures too! Producer Fred Gebhardt also produced The Phantom Planet, which also featured Anthony Dexter and Francis X. Bushman, who also appear in this film. Director David Bradley also directed the infamous, They Saved Hitler’s Brain.
