ZOMBIES ON BROADWAY (1945) ***

The comedy team of Wally Brown and Alan Carney play publicity men to gangster/niteclub owner Sheldon (Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man) Leonard. His new club, “The Zombie Hut” promises a real live zombie, so he sends Brown and Carney down to San Sebastian to find one. Bela Lugosi co-stars as Dr. Renault, a mad scientist trying to duplicate zombieism in his lab who turns Carney into a bug eyed zombie. There’s also a comic relief monkey in there too. Brown and Carney aren’t exactly funny, but the movie itself is fast paced and fun. Fans of Lugosi won’t be disappointed as he is great as always.
